I am 46 years old and amazed how we are never too old to learn something new. Having been in business for a few years I decided it was time to get my business to the next level, and be able to have a happy family life at the same time. Something that is not easy to achieve when you are a single parent and own a small business.
I embarked on a new path. After much contemplation over the expense, I signed on to take a business coaching group class. I have now taken the class for two months and feel like I am gaining new knowledge about myself as much as learning new techniques to get more done in a shorter time period. Thanks to Mike Goldman of Performance Breakthrough, my time is much more productive. I also enjoy the group setting since we have many discussions about what is affecting each of us, and what can we do to make things work more efficiently.
Education is a great thing. Its too bad that as children we are forced to go to school. It is not until we are much older and wiser that we understand what we might have missed out on as kids, not appreciating the opportunities that were awarded to us. I now appreciate new knowledge, and will keep up with “sharpening my saw”.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the New Jersey Governor’s Awards In Arts Education yesterday, and saw first hand the power of education. I was able to watch performances by some of the most talented high school students in the state. And they are amazing. These kids have taken advantage of what is available to them and have achieved beyond your wildest dreams. I was also the proud parent when my daughter received her award for a personal essay she wrote. It brought tears to my eyes when he was presented her medal from the Commissioner of Education and the Secretary of State. A parents dream come true.
Keep on learning, and never stop!
